It did have a slightly woody flavour on the after-taste but this should dissapear over time, and the quality of this wine should certainly improve over the next decade or so. However, as puriest of fine Bordeaux this wine does not fit in and could be produced anywhere in the world. Massive nose, huge concentration and power that dominates right to the end. This is a very serious wine. Fine tannins, with layers of rich ripe fruits that lingers in the mouth. This is one of the best GPL that we have tasted for many years and is a credit to the tenacity of its owner Francois Xavier Borie, who since taking over the property has consistanly made good wines. Rauzan Segla 2nd Cru Classe Margaux  After the first sample was not tasting well. We all retasted Rauzan and were amazed by its sheer quality. It is possibly the best we have tasted since the early days of Rauzan before it was bought by Chanel. This is mainly due to the tenacity of John Kolasa and the whole team at Rauzan.
